DNA tests have revealed that an Argentinian man fathered seven children with one of his daughters, law enforcement officials in Mendoza province said on Wednesday.
The man, dubbed the "Monster of Mendoza" by the media, has been in custody for three weeks.
He has admitted raping his now 35-year-old daughter for the first time when she was 8 years old. She first became pregnant at 15 and her children are now aged between 2 and 19.
In a similar case, Austrian Josef Fritzl imprisoned his daughter in a basement dungeon for 24 years and fathered her seven children.
Threatened her constantly
The victim in Mendoza was not locked up but her father threatened her constantly, according to several statements.
The result of the DNA tests has undermined his defence that his daughter consented to sex as they have proved that she was underage when she gave birth to her first child by her father.
The man has a total of 21 children: eight from his first marriage, six with his current partner and seven with his daughter.
An investigation into whether he abused his other daughters is ongoing. - (Sapa, May 2009)
