Q.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Hi there

I know I am due to have my wisdom teeth removed in the near future, I would like to know what the procedure is and what the recovery period is. I generally heal quite quickly but having my wisdom teeth removed is quite daunting to me.

Please could you let me know what I should be prepared for.

Kind regards
Natalie

Also be sure your surgeon explains your individual risk factors and type of impaction you have (different types of impactions require different approaches to surgery)

Thanks very much for the help. I am sure that if I can handle childbirth I can handle a tooth extraction. I am still nervous though but it has to be done.

Don't be frightened as it is a standard procedure. Depending on how many teeth need to be removed you may need to spend a morning in the hospital. They will give you pain killers for after and some mouthwash. I took a couple of days to recover and it was fine - there was not bleeding and hardly any pain. the pnly pain was not being able to eat properly. Always ask your surgeoun the possibility of nerve damage. Just remember, the sooner you take them out the sooner you can forget about the whole experience. Good luck
