Q.

Wisdom Teeth

Hi Doc

I had my wisdom teeth out about 10 days ago and my mouth is no longer sore (thank goodness) but where my teeth were there are big gaps/hoes in my gums. THese are sore but I am concerned because food gets trapped in them and although I rinse my mouth our regularly with salt water/mouthwash I am worried that these holes might be come infected. Is this normal or should I go back to the dentist who removed my teeth?

Thanks

Hi - had mine out last year. Those gaping holes are quite normal. They will take a few months to start closing. All you can do is rinse and rinse some more. Try to avoid eating things that can make you miserable such as rice and nuts -they are a pain. If you keep rinsing you should get no infections
