Q.

When will the grow?

Hi, my 8 year old Son had to have his 4 top teeth removed when he was 18 months old due to an accident he was involved in.
Can you please advise as to when the new teeth will come out.
He is getting self conscious about it now and keeps on asking when they will grow. I have also noticed that his new bottom teeth are growing scew and very long, which is probably because they don't have any top teeth to grow towards. Will they come right when his 4 new top teeth come out, or will he require braces?

Hi,

The upper front teeth usually erupt at 7 years of age BUT this can vary greatly. A simple x-ray will indicate the position of the permanent teeth and should put your mind at ease.
With regards to the bottom teeth, they are not growing skew because of a lack ofupper teeth. Usually we wait until a patient is 10/11 years of age before we decide on braces.
