What on earth can this be?

Dear Dental Expert and other readers.

I hope you can help me, I am really suffering today.

I had a little hole in the back of my one front tooth a few months ago, which I had cleaned and filled. (I am 29 and I have NO fillings so you can imagine my horror when I discovered a small hole behind one of my FRONT teeth of all teeth)
Anyway, after it was done I remember getting a very sharp pain every time I ate or drank something hot or cold and it touched the tooth. It was very sensitive. It went away after a while, but since about 3 days ago I have that same ache all the time, not only when eating or drinking something that is hot or cold. I have one of those little dental mirrors and both myself and my husband had a good look to see if we can see something, but there is nothing. What on earth can this be? I mean, there is clearly no hole or anything, but it just feels like I have something cold on it all the time. It is not so bad right now, but I am continuously aware of it and at times it gets so bed that I literally sit with my hand on my mouth. I really hope you can understand what I am trying to say. Is my tooth just sensitive somehow and what can I do for the nagging ache to go away?

Your advice or suggestions will really be appreciated. Thank you.

Oral health expert

it sounds as though the tooth of your nerve is affected - (hot and cold sensitive).
this happens sometimes due to trauma or periodontal disease for example. you may need a root canal treatment on the tooth.
See your dentist.

Dear Doc

Thank you for answering. I was so hoping you wouldn't say that, but I will have it looked at as soon as possible.

Thank you again!
