It is normal to feel discomfort after a wisdom extraction.this lasts for +/-3 days.If you still experiencing pain thereafter, you need to see your dentist.
With a lower wisdom, it is slightly different compared to the upper. The inferior alveolar nerve lies in a canal below the roots of the lower teeth.Sometimes if the roots lie very close to the nerve, the nerve may get injured during the extraction. Then you may experience numbness on that side of the face. This lasts temporarily.

Dear Doctor

My upper left wisdom is starting to pop out. It is very sore. The dentist had a look at it -done an x-ray and advised me that he can extract it without having to go to theatre. Friends advised me that I should have it removed at theatre. I am very concerned. What should I do
