Q.

Sore tooth

Hi Doc

Please can you advise - I had one of my back teeth filled last Friday, at the time the Dentists digital x-ray was on the blink, so he could't take the x-ray to check if there was an abcess. He said it looked fine, although he had to drill quite deeply as he said there was quite a lot of decay, so was working close to the nerve.
Once the injection wore off later that day I was in agony! I had a script for some pain meds, which took care of it, however the problem is that I am still getting twinges from this tooth, sometimes a dull ache, sometimes more and sometimes its fine.
I'm worried now that there is an abcess there that he didn't see! What else could the problem be? i really dont want to have to go back again.

Thx

Hi Sue

There may not be an absces but there could be decay that has extended into the nerve. My advice is to have an x-ray taken before proceeding with any other treatment
