Q.

Sensitive Teeth

Hi Doc,

I have extremely sensitive teeth. I brush twice a day and floss. I eat a relatively healthy diet, with very little sweets and such. The last time I saw a dentist was in March. I am baffled, also by the fact that my wife has a similar problem.

Please advise!
Thanks,
Njabulo

There are various reasons as to why your teeth can be sensitive. If your dentist has not detected any cavities during your last check up it is possible that some recession of the gums could have happened since then. Also there may now be a tiny cavity which could have gotten slightly bigger since March. You can try a desensitsing toothpast like Sensodyne. If it doesnt settle see your dentist again (you are due for your 6 monthly chekc up any way).
