pain after root canal treatment often occurs for a few days- this should settle soon. If you still experience pain after 5-6 days, further investigation is necessary

Hi Doc
I recently went to see a dentist for a root canal treatment and was given an injection.
Six days after the treatment, my toungue is still numb and this is very irritating and uncomfortable.
I went back to see the Dentist again and was told it should be back to normal and I should be patient.
How long do you think this condition will persist?
Will this not have any negative effect to my tongue going forward?
Your prompt response will be of high importance to me.

Thank you
