Q.

Root Canal

I recently went for a root canal and everything went off well, or so I thought. As I was abut leave the practice he mentioned to me that he accidentally broke off a piece of the "file" in my canal. I had intense pain for 2 days after but now(4 days later) it seems ok. Could this "file" cause problems later on and should I be worried?

Files breaking in canals are one of the most common occurences in root canal treatment. Depending on how deep the file broke in the root will determine the chances of pain occuring in future. You could ask your dentist to discuss the options available to you ie redoing the treatment and removing the file or leaving it as is . Many pateints report no symptoms with broken files for many many years.
