Q.

Problem teeth?

My daughter aged 6 and a half, has been in theatre under general anaesthetic 4 times for dental procedures. I have taken her to her dentist every 6 months religiously since she was 2 years old, and each time he tells me I am at fault for her poor teeth because I obviously give her too many sweets and dont brush her teeth properly. However, I have always brushed her teeth twice daily - thoroughly, she only gets a sweet as a special treat on the weekend, and drinks more water than any other liquid. She has had asthma since 6months of age, and been on an asthma pump twice daily since then, and due to the asthma has also been on antibiotics often since she was a baby - could any of this be reason for her "poor teeth", or am I the one at fault?

Antibiotcs can definitely cause disturbed development of teeth. I do think that haing done treatment under GA 4 times already is a bit much- however it might have been necessary (but is very uncommon)
I would seek a second opinion as well.
