Q.

Gum Lifting upper front teeth

Hi,

Generally I have very good teeth, I am 32 yrsd old caucasian male. However, in the last 2-3 years I have noticed that the gum above my upper two front teeth is starting to lift, exposing the lower end of the teeth which would normally be covered by the gum. Is this something to be concerned about, what is the casue, and what can I do about it?

thanks

Mike

This condition is called recession and occurs commonly. Causes are many (hard brushing, using a hard bristled brush, gum disease etc). Consult your dentist to determine the cause and appropriate cause of action. Usually the exposed part of the tooth can be covered by a tooth coloured filling.
