Dear Doc

Please would you advise me on the following: I have a 5 year old son,and while he is sleeping I can hear him grinding his teeth,I've actually notice that most of his teeth in the front have become smaller,do I need to take him to a dentist, will he need to get a mouth guard to sleep with, how safe is it??

Hello,

Mouthguards (or biteplates) are very safe, however your son is too young to be using such a device.
See a dentist who would be able to advise you whether intervention is necessary or whether you should let it pass.
