Q.

False teeth

About 12 years ago my gums started receeding, the dentist told me there was nothing he could do except remove all my top teeth and provide false teeth. He gave a quote of " around"  R25 000. I simply did not have the money so had to leave it.
I have since lost all my molar teeth and only have the front ones left. I don' t know how long they are going to last.
I have now been told that it will be impossible to do false teeth as they cannot take a mould of my mouth with no teeth. Will it be possible just to have the front done (where I still have teeth)?
I still don' t know now or where I am going to find the money as I am sure it must cost much more now than the original 25 000, but maybe just having the front done will be cheaper. At least then I will be able to smile and talk to people.

This is not true. imresssions are taken ALL the time for patients with no teeth. It may be that the dentist was talking if implants (these may not be possible to do if you lost alot of bone- not teeth).
Clarify this with your dentist and if he still says you can't take impressions for dentures without any teeth in the mouth- find another dentist.
