Decaying teeth of my little 2 year old

Dear Doc . . .

I really hope you can help me. Ive made the terrible mistake of letting my baby get use to falling asleep on the breast, and later on using a bottle.

Looking at some photographs of her, we noticed that her teeth has been getting worse and worse. It started with a bit of discolouration at the back of her front teeth and now her front teeth have rather deep grooves in them. Im no expert, but it seems as if her enamel isn't doing all that great.

I know that using a flouride supplement is generally advised, but I woul prefer not doing this due to lots of bad publicity about flouride.

I have been giving her calcium and Calc Flour (tissue salts) but Im not sure if this alone is going to do the trick.

She's not on formula anymore. Since january she's been on goatsmilk since cowsmilk gave her very bad sinus problems. She gets a bottle (125 ml) around 5 in the morning, again at 12 for midday sleep and then at 7 o'clock for bedtime.

Please help if you can - we are very concerned about this.

THanking you in advance

Oral health expert

from what you describe, it seems as though your daughter's teeth may already be badly damaged. Before giving her fluoride or any other supplement it is important to determine the extent of the problem. only a health proffessional can do this

It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to see a dentist urgently.
the supplements cannot help if the decay is extensive.
also allowing her to sleep with the bottle will compund the problem.
good luck
