Q.

Broken Teeth

Dear Doc

Please would explain to me why every single tooth that I have had a filling put in,are now all breaking?? I'm 28 years old,and 3 of my teeth that had fillings put in over the years are breaking into pieces. What do I do now,2 out of the 3 teeth,I've had root canal done on them,so what is my next option, cause they've broken into pieces-everytime I took a bite of something a little bit harder my teeth fell apart. They are my molars, please help!

Hello Laila

There are many reason the teeth could have broken. Sometimes also, you may think it is the tooth but in fact the filling has cracked. Root canal filled teeth are by nature weaker and more susceptible to fracture.
With regards to what you do now, depending on the extent of the damage the teeth can be crowned and saved. However one needs to look at other possible reasons for fracture like unnatural biting force (from a traumatic bite).
