Q.

Bad Teeth

I have a problem with teeth breaking.I have four already that is totaly broken off. The problem is where do I go to have it fixed without paying a fortune. I only have a hospital plan with discovery health and they do not cover dental. But I think I will have to go to hosital, because my teeth are broken into the gums and I din't think it can be fixed in a chair. Will discovery then cover it ? What are my options? Funny enough it is not painfull, it is sensative but still not painfull. I have to get this fixed rather sooner than later. Please help.

You will have to contact your medical aid to see if they cover it.

You can go to the dental hospital at Johannesburg General where they will be able to help you either in theatre (if necessary) or in the chair.

Phone Discovery's helpline they will gladly assist. My son had his teeth done at a clinic - I also only have a hospital plan with no MSA. They pay the hospital bill except for the first R1000 - (this comes out of MSA if you have MSA) The dentist and anaethetist is for your own account. My teeth also tend to break off a lot and I just keep on going to my dentist and tell him I do not have money to go for corwns etc - he built them up and the last one cost me about R250- I have an appointment for another one tomorrow. But do go before the gums closes over the broken tooth- that is not so desirable.
