Q.

Infected gum above broken tooth for a few months.

So the infected part of my gum will have puss coming out of it. Ive been to the dentist and got antibiotics but the infections still their. I’m going to have to get that tooth pulled but my question is will the numbing agent used work If the gums infected? It’s not really swollen at all just a lot redder where you can tell it’s infected. I’ve just heard they can’t pull a tooth If the gums infected because the numbing medicine will not work. Thanks

If the infection is severe, there may be an issue with the anaesthetic. The dentist will decide this upon examination. Often, giving a larger dose of anaesthetic will work.
