How can I test my eyes to see if I have an infection?

I had sudden onset eye irritation a month ago. Started out dry, then itchy, then eyelids swelled. Profuse watering turned to white strandy mucous generated in my eyes constantly. In the mornings this appears a bit yellow and my eyes feel swollen and difficult to open. I have been treated for allergies. The symptoms persist. I have been given patanol eyedrops, oral cortizone, and antihistamines for allergies; fluconazole for vaginal thrush; and Cloxacillin to rule out staph. Doing everything to manage potential allergens. The problem persists. Where can i get an eye swab to rule out specific infections? Thank you!!!

Hi there

Sorry to hear you still struggling to find something that works. An ophthalmologist would be the best person to determine if a swab is necessary.

Good luck!
