NovoMix 30 contains 30%  (rapid-acting) insulin aspart(Novorapid) and 70% (intermediate-acting) insulin aspart. This gives cover over the 2 main meals with Novorapid and the intermediate part then acts a a basal insulin to cover in between meals and overnight. If you only use Novorapid, then you won't be getting any insulin cover in between meals and overnight. You would therefore need to add a long acting insulin to the novorapid like Levemir, Lantus, Optisulin, Humulin N, and Protaphane etc
