Q.

Whooping cough at age 31

I have whooping cough and get the cough attacks about 5 times a day. In my throat, it feels if there is something and triggers me to cough. I cannot spit out the mucus as then I cannot breathe. How can I get the mucus out?

One thing that helps with mucous clearance is hypertonic saline nebulization. You will need to purchase a nebulizer and then you can buy 5% hypertonic saline from the pharmacy.  Essentially it's salty water that helps to break down the secretions and can help a lot.  Alternatively you can use something called N-acetyl cysteine which is a mucolytic. You can get that at your pharmacy.
