Childhood Diseases

My baby boy is nearly 8 months old and I still have to give him Benetts or Buscopan at least two to three times a week at night. He''s on Lactogen no. 2 and been eating solids for a while. He has terrible wind mostly at night and cries before passing the wind.
Is there any advice other than meds to give him? I''m quite desperate as this has been going on for a long time and I thought as he got older things would get better.

Thanks his concerned mum

It is very possible that your baby son has a lactose intolerence problem. This means that he is unable to digest the lactose in milk and this makes him very windy and uncomfortable. There are two options; either change his present formula to a lactose-free fromula such as NAN LF or change him to a soya formula such as Infacare Soya. See if this helps him.He should also not have any other foods containing dairy products.

Hi doc,

We did try the soya thing for about 2 months there was no change and he didn''t like the soya at all, he didn''t pick up any weight in that time, can it be something in his small intestines?

Kind Regards
