Q.

Whole banana

Just wanted to know if you can mash a very ripe banana with a fork and give it to an 8 month old baby? Also do you need to add cooking oil to it - heard the baby can get diareah if you don't?
What other finger type foods should a baby be eating at 8 months

Thanks so much - will give her one tomorrow! Great to know in case I am out of the purity. Also thought the cooking oil sounded a bit disgusting and unheatlhy!!

PLease don't add cooking oil to your baby's banana - yuck!

Banana will help to firm up a stool in a baby with diarhea - it won't cause diarhea.

the first food my baby ever ate, at 5 and a half months - was mashed ripe banana mixed with expressed breastmilk (to thin it to the right consistency for a first food).

My baby has been eating mashed up banana since about 7 months without cooking oil. Have never heard of that. No problems and no diarrohea (sp?).
