What would you suggest

Hi Doc,
My daughter has viral wheezing and it is controlled with the seretide pump during the winter months - she doesnt take the zyrtec and singulair as it changes her behaviur...
Her nose is running at the moment and her cough is quite wet - morning and night - I have given her ponstel in the morning, illiadin 3x per day since Saterday and her pump. it seems to be keeping everything at bay but i am nervous that when i stop using the illiadin she is going to get sick. If i phone her paed he is just going to tell me to nebulise with duolin for 3 days and if that doesnt work, then celestamine for 5 days....I am so tired of that answer - what wold you suggest?

You know your little girl's diagnois which is the most important part. You also know that antibiotics do not help for viral illnesses and we do not want to use a powerful cortisone medicine every time your daughter gets ill.The best preventer and treatment medicine for this problem is Singulair. If your daughter can tolerate this medicine she should re-start this one. You need to keep her nose clear by using saline nosedrops or spray twice daily. You cannot use the Iliadin for longer than 5 days.Keep her on the Seretide inhaler. This illness which is similar to a cold will take about 10 days to clear up.

Hi Prof.
Me daughter suffers from viral wheezing and is on seretide and you have suggested in my post below that she re-starts the singulair which i will try - maybe as she was in hospital she was suffering from hospital anxiety when she came out..
She has this terrible cold at the moment and you said I must spray twice daily with the saline when i am finished iliandin (tomorrow) but her voice is all croaky now - yesterday afternooon when i picked her up her voice was almost gone...isnt that laryngitis?
Doc also could you by any chance (and if you cant it is ok..) suggest a paediatrican in the northern suburbs of CT? My daughters paed is obsessed with celestamine and duolin - all he ever prescribes...I really need a good paediatrican i can count on as it is only me and hubby - we have no sisters or mothers or anything and really need to be able to trust her paed...
