What to do??

My son is 7 and in grade2. His teacher says he has a concentration problem in class...he seems ok when we do homework though? She is saying he needs to be on Ritalin? Isn''t this a bit extreme?

Your son's concentration problem may be due to him not sleeping properly due to a blocked nose or because he cannot hear well or his eyesight may not be good.In other words there are many causes for children not being able concentrate well. You mention that he seems to be OK when you do homework with him. He may need other treatment not Ritalin which is only given to children when needed for ADHD.Please take your son to a child or educational psychologist for assessment.
