What could be wrong?

Dear dr
My 21 month old son has been unwell since Friday last week. He had the Prevenar booster shot on that day as well &  usually don' t react badly to immunisations. He is extremely irritable &  gets emotional or upset over the smallest things. He is running a slight fever every now &  again (around 38.2 degrees). He has not slept properly since Friday &  he moans continuously in his sleep. We took him to the dr on Sunday, but there is nothing obvious wrong with him (ears, throat, chest etc fine). I thought it was stomach cramps, because he curled up in his sleep - have tried Buscopan, but it has such a terrible taste &  now he refuses to take ANY medication. He has normal stools. He doesn' t eat well at all (normally a very good eater).
Could this just be the after effects of the Prevenar (even though it' s 5 days later)? Or could it be teething perhaps (he still needs to cut his eye teeth &  4 molars at the back)? His daymother is of the opinion that he looks a bit pale to her. It is terribly frustrating not knowing what to treat or how to make him more comfortable? The only medication I' ve been able to give him is Empaped suppositories, but it doesn' t seem to bring much relief.
Your opinion will be much appreciated.

You have set out your concerns here very well. I agree that it is a long period after the Prevenar for your son to be unwell, but that does appear appear to be the most likely cause here. He became ill on the day that he had the Prevenar and has run a fever since then. Only give him something for fever such as Calpol which he should take as it tastes good or you can use the Empaped suppositories. If he is no better by this Friday please ask your paediatrician to see him again.

Dear dr
Further update: my son has now also developed a rash on his back, stomach &  private parts. It looks like a heat rash &  not really spots. He' s not scratching either.
I' m just worried as I' m 20 weeks pregnant &  don' t want to catch a serious illness like German Measels.
