weight 8year old

I have a 8 year old son and it seems that he is not picking up weight healthy. We have weighed him in April 2010 his weight were then 23.7kg we wrote it down. Then in November 2010 his weight was Last week he weigh 23,5kg. He is active like my other children, riding bike not much, weekends, and he is not hyperactive. I have 3 other children and they are doing fine, but he is the one I''m most concern. He will eat red meat but prefers chicken and very little of it. He will eat what I give him but not much of it. Loves fruit and drinks enough water. They eat breakfast every morning, lunch and supper.
Is there a problem is this normal or what should you recommend?

I would have liked to see your son's height as well. The average weight for an eight year old boy is 25kg. Your son's weight is obviously below average but not as much as you may think. HIs weight is on the 25th percentile line of the normal weight chart for boys;this means that he is in the lower 25% for weight for boys of 8 years. This is still well within normal limits. Your son appears to be healthy and happy. He actually seems to eat a good healthy diet,so there is no need to worry about him too much. He is probably following a family pattern with regard to his weight.
