Walking ring question

My baby is going on 5 months. She is big and very strong. I want to know your advice on walking rings. She is almost sitting up on her own already and when you hold her, she likes to push down on her legs like she is trying to stand up. I got a walking ring from a friend and I put her in it just to see her reaction. She LOVES it! She laughs and can just about touch the floor. She can push herself backwards but not forwards. Is there a danger using a walking ring so early? I have not used it for a long period of time and I constantly watch her.

Babies do not need walking rings and certainly not such a young baby of only 5 months. Your baby will soon be sitting by herself and will then go on to reach her other important milestones. She will need to learn to develop her balance by herself when the time comes and a walking ring is not useful for this. Paediatricians are always concerned that babies may hurt themselves while using walking rings so usually do not advise their use.
