Q.

waking up coughing

Hi there Doc

My Lo is 5months. She has been waking up with a cough for the past week now. It's a wet cough, post drip... all of that.
This is her first time sick since birth.

I noticed a bit of a weeze about two weeks ago and started giving her Tussitot. The weeze went away a few days later, but now, she wakes up coughing with a snotty nose, almost as if she's chocking. What can I give her. I have also put Karvol drops on her pillow when she sleeps so makes her breathing a little easier.

Your baby has developed a virus infection [probably the so-called RSV virus] The illness starts off as a cold and affects babies especially during the winter months. You must keep her nose clear using infant saline nose drops twice a day. If the cough persists please take her to see your doctor. Do not give her cough mixtures or use the Karvol drops.

OK, bit new at this (first time mom)

This may sound a bit stupid, but what is the RSV virus?
