Q.

Very dry cough

my 3yrs old boy has been coughing for weeks on end now and when i took him to the paediatrician he told me it is a post nasal drip and he gave me nasal spray and bronchoped.I gave him the medicine but nothing is helping his cough is very dry, he coughs and vomits until the is nothing coming out and breaks into a sweat for coughing so hard. After he complains his chest and throat and his sides are sore.My concern is that the cough does not go away and its worse at night its very dry and sort of like a dog barking.he has been coughing for too long and if its a post nasal drip should it not clear after a month of treatment.he did undergo allergy tests and nothing found.please help

Paediatrician

This is not a cough due to a postnasal drip but is a typical whooping cough. Go back to your paediatrician and tell him your child has whooping cough. Ask him to prescibe a medicine that will relieve the cough such as Aterax Syrup. All other medicines should be stopped.
