Q.

Very Active Baby

Hi
My daughter is 4 months old. She hardly sleeps during the day. She is on solids, fruit in the morning, veg at lunch at porridge at supper. She has milk bottles throughout the day.
She sometimes only sleeps for an hour in the day. She is very pleasant and doesnt cry unless she is really tired which is usually by 3pm.
When she was just on the bottle (Isomil) she used to wake up only once at night. Since she is on solids she wakes up every two hours at night. She drinks her bottle at every wake.
She is currently drinking between 600-900ml of milk.
What should I do to get her back into her old routine of only waking once at night. If she doesnt sleep well she is very crabby in the morning. At her last clinic appointment she was 5.6kg -14 weeks 64 cm

Your baby seems to be getting sufficient amounts of food, although I will advise not to rush too quickly with introducing three full meals/day. One bottle at night time should be adequate and if you have ensured that your baby is not feverish, ill or cold and does not have a dirty nappy then it is often best not to try and console her everytime as this creates a dependance that may be difficult to reverse. Our online dietician and your local clinic, may also give advice.
