My 2 & 1/2 year old has NEVER slept through since birth. My paed. has now prescribed Vallergan to try and get her out of her bad sleeping habits. She wakes up to twice every hour during the night. She has no trouble going to bed but has a very active imagination and it seems that she doesn' t " shut down" . I have used the meds are prescribed but it has only worked for the first 5 nights (must use it for 14 decreasing the dosage after 7). What else can I try except for such heavy medication? Is there maybe some homeopathic remedy? I have tried Rescue Remedy and Weleda' s Insomnia Remedy but they taste quite bad and she refuses to drink it. She is healthy and eats well and drinks lots of healthy fluids. I am desperate for some advice please.

Please, please do not use Valergan to make your child sleep. It makes children very irritable and drowsy the next day. They are so 'bombed out' that they cannot concentrate properly.Paediatricians are against using sedatives for children because of unwanted side effects. Please refer to answers to questions about sleep problems in children of this age. You need to assist her to develop a good sleep pattern.

Dink nie dit is slaap apnee, sy word aanmekaar wakker en roep my om haar toe te maak of sy praat in haar slaap. Is asof sy nie die punt kan bereik waar sy afskakel en gaan rus nie. Geen teken van ' n toe neus of enige so iets nie.
