Q.

twinges and small fits

my baby girl is eleven days old, i am concerned about the fits she gets whilst asleep, she would do these periodic fits or twinges but they don't cause her to wake-up though. she is been eating well and she been breast fed most of the time other than we it is necessary she woul be given a bottle.

my question is to find out if these fits or twinges are normal or are a cause for concern.

Paediatrician

These movements are very common in newborn babies and are usually normal and not due to any problem. If she is very twitchy she may have a low blood sugar or a low calcium or magnesiuam level although this is unlikely. If the movements are very jerky and persistent it would be best if her paediatrician saw her.
