Tummy bugs and clingy toddler

Morning doctor

Hope you are keeping warm, its quite cold and windy in the Free State.

I would like to know three things please:

1. All these " tummy bugs"  going around - isn''t our water the culprit rather than " something in the air" ?

2. Is it normal for my 25 month old to be so clingy to mommy? At this stage Daddy isn''t really " entertaining"  to him and he just wants his mommy to do everything and play with him and pick him up all the time. His teacher also informed me that he constantly asks (not crying) for me all day and when she asks him if he doesn''t rather want Daddy he will answer - " nee, soek mamma" . Is this just a phase?

3. Is Zentel okay for deworming at 25 months? You advised me that Vermox SD is not suitable for him. This is his yearly routine dosage of deworming meds.

Thank you doctor.
Stay well.

Thank you.Children usually pick up tummy bugs from other children or when the food they eat is prepared by someone who did not wash their hands especially after using the toilet or where knowledge of food hygiene is poor.Your son is still in the age group where separation anxiety is a factor. He seems to be focussing mainly on you now but his Dad will get his turn. You need to reassure your son that you will pick him up after school and be patient with him, this stage will soon pass.I prefer using Vermox Syrup 5ml twice daily for 3 days for deworming young children.
