Q.

Trouble with 3,5 year old

My daughter is 3,5 years old, she has perfect bladder control and can normally tell us when she needs to go to the bathroom the problem is that shel will do things like get in to our bed while we are busy elsewhere and wet the bed or do it on the carpet in all the rooms in the house, that includes nr 2. It doesnt happen when she is busy playing or otherwise occupied, it is a planned action. She still drinks bottle when she goes to sleep and therefore still have to wear nappies when she goes to sleep. We have tried all means to get this to stop but nothing works. Please help as I am at the end of my rope as my home always smells like urine.

Paediatrician

Is there any reason why she should have started this behaviour. Has there been any upset in the family for example? Is there a problem at school? This behaviour does appear to have a psychological cause as previously she was 'potty trained'. The starting point here must be to make sure that she does not have a bladder/urinary tract infection, so for this she needs to see her paediatrian first. If all is well then speak to the paediatrician about the next stage in getting over this probem.
