My son (7yr) is often sick with what i think is chest infection, because he complains about painful chest and he''ll be coughing so bad. Every time I take him to the Dr they say his tonsils are swollen then give antibiotics and some meds.

It''s confusing me because I don''t know if they are treating the right thing, maybe that''s why it keeps coming back?

Do tonsils cause someone to cough alot and struggle to breathe properly.

I agree with you, it is unlikely that tonsil infection will cause your son to have the signs of a chest infection. At 7 years children usually do not have repeated tonsil infections, although this may occasionally happen. It is important to exclude asthma as a cause of your son's illness. It really would be best to take him to see a paediatric pulmonologist. There are experts in all the main centres in SA.
