TODDLERS RED EYES & YELLOW DISCHARGE

My son is 2 years and 8 months old over the weekend his eyes were red and a yellow/whitish discharge was coming out from his eyes and at the same time he is also coughing and has a runny nose. During the day he goes to a Day Care and he stays with my mom in law and he only started going to a day care centre this year. What can I use to clear his eyes I am frustrated because his never suffered from eyes infection before. PLEASE HELP

This sounds like an adenovirus infection of his eyes. Make a dilute salt solution using a quarter teaspoonful of salt in a cup of boiled water. Allow to cool and wipe his eyes twice daily with clean cotton wool dipped in this solution. His eyes should clear quickly. Wipe his eyes from the nose side outwards each time.
