Toddler Tummy Troubles

Dear Doc
My 3.5 year old has suffered with tummy troubles for the last couple of months, he constantly has loose stools, I wouldn' t call it diarrhea as such. He has a healthy diet, fruit and veggies and has plenty of fluids each day. Its come to a point where I think I should have his stools tested but don' t know how to go about it. I have started giving him Probiotics Junior and it seems to help. On Saturday he complained of tummy cramps after having a milkshake and low and behold had loose stools again. Do you think he could be lactose intolerant and we haven' t picked it up? He had Lactogen as a baby and was fine all through the first year and then went onto Nido with no problems. I don' t know how concerned I should be.

You don't need to be very concerned.Your toddler has a very common problem known as 'toddler's diarrhoea' This is due to too much natural sugars in his diet such as the fructose in fruit and fruit juices. Stop all fruit and fruit juices and he should settle down a lot. Read more about this condition on Google.
