Q.

Toddler not eating - Help

My boy is aprox 21 months, for the past 3 weeks he refuses to eat. He doen't even want to eat a biscuit or anyhting. During the day his grandmother takes care of him when we are at work, at night when it is time for supper, he is eager to get into his highchair, but then as the food comes he plays with it and through it around. He gets about 1 teaspoon in. We have purchased Bon Appetite to enhance eating, but after aprox 3 days he ate alot that night and the day after he had a runny tummy, I continued Bon Appetite for a few days but the runny tummy continued so I stopped giving him that. Should I take him to the doctor? Is there something else I can do? Looking at his body, he is definantly losing weight.

Children often go off food with an intercurrent viral illness, but if the poor intake persists and he loses weight or dehydrates then it needs to be evaluated.
