To much fluids

My boy is almost 22 months. He just had his tonsils out about a month ago. He is eating very well since then. But.... He drinks way to much. He drinks at least 3 bottles of milk at night, and goes through at least 7 bottles of fluids during the day.

I want to start taking his bottle away from him, but i do not know how to do this. Should i do this, how can i get him to stop drinking so much fluids, it cant be very good for him to be drinking that much.

His bottle is like a safety for him, everywhere we go , he needs to have his bottle with him. But really, he would be eating a lot more if he wasnt drinking so much.

I have tried to stop him from drinking so much, he through such a tantrum, that it just doesnt work.

Please tell me, what can i do to stop him from drinking so much.

Please help.

This is a common problem and children often derive security from their bottle. He does not need so much fluid. I would suggest to cut it down to one milk bottle at night and to offer only water at other times. You may then slowly replace the final night time bottle with water as well. It is expected that this may be associated with some tantrums, but giving in to his demands will only enforce the behaviour. It is important to remember that he is not naughty, you may provide some comfort, but it often best to leave him alone if you have ensured that there is no other reason for his crying. It usually takes a few days of consistent behaviour before this night time pattern will change.
