Terrible temper tantrums

My baby is 15 months old, he has a terrible bout of temper tantrums. What is the best way to handle it ? It's gets so bad that he can end up throwing himself down more than 3 times in 30 minutes. In most cases he hits his head against the ceramic floor.I'm afraid he might end up hurting himself. I also afraid of saying " NO" to him in case he throws himself down.I'm getting so frustrated, what causes it?

You have made the correct diagnosis, these are temper tantrums. These are very common in this age group. The most important thing to do is not to pay attention to him when he is performing. Make sure that he can't hurt himself where he is in the room and simply walk out. Only return when he has stopped performing. He will soon get the message. This is usually a passing phase. It is no use trying to reason with him and it certainly will not help if you tell him to stop while he is throwing himself around.
