My son is 23 months old. Will be 2 on 1st Feb 2005. He drinks alot of fluid. He also sweats alot out of the top of his head, his hair is constantly wet from sweat.

When he sleeps, i have to change the pillow 3 times during the night because he sweats so much that the pillow is soaking wet.

Is this normal, should he be sweating so much, he is not sick or anything.

Why does this happen, please explain to me, i am very worried about this.

Some children do sweat a lot and this often involves the head. If this is a new observation or your child has any additional symptoms like fever, lethargy or coughing then it needs to be evaluated. I cannot give you a clear answer, if it is not due to ilness, it is often a combination of being too warmly covered (especially at night) and sometimes sleeping on a pillow case that has a waterproof covering.

I asked the same question a few weeks ago because my son sweats so badly that he has a wet ring under him at night and I have to turn his pillow over. Doc suggested that I take my son to the paediatrician as it does not sound normal. I did so as I was a little worried and wanted to set my mind at rest. The paed checked him out throughly and said that he is just a hot baby. If there was anything wrong with him, he would show more signs than just the sweating. Sweating, especially at night could indicate, TB, Thyroid problems or AIDS, these are the more common causes, but like I said they all have other symptoms as well. If he is otherwise well as you mention then I don't think there is anything wrong with him.
