Q.

Sunken Eyes

What causes sunken eyes in children. My little on is almost four but has had them since birth. It gets worse when she is sick. What can I give her to improve the condition

Paediatrician

This may simply be a family characteristic, but sunken eyes in young children can be a sign of dehydration. This is not the case with your child as she has always has this appearance. Another cause is a condition where the eyes are smaller than normal, this is called microphthalmia. If you are concerned about your child's eye appearance it is best to see a paediatric eye specialist [ophthalmologist].
