Q.

Sugar levels

My Daugter started shool last week and since tuesday her sugar levels have been very high any thing from 17 to 22mmol. I have been giving her more insulin which does drop the sugar level for a while then it just goes up again. She has no Ketones in her Urine. Is this normal because of the change of school? and if so how long will this last.

Thanx

Paediatrician

This does not sound normal and cannot be explained by the new school. It is important to discuss this and how address it with your paediatrician. A careful evaluation of her sugar and insulin diary is required.

Karen, my daughter of 8 is in grade 2 this year. When she was diagnosed as diabetic we were told that tension/stress can cause high sugar levels. This was confirmed when school closed and she relaxed - her sugar levels dropped too low.
