Q.

Sucking

Hi

My three-year-old daughter has finally stopped sucking her thumb, but has now substituted it with her bottom lip. This has been going on for about two months now and I am not sure how to stop it since she insists on sucking it. With the thumb, I could put chillies (nothing else worked ... tried everything incl. bitter aloe) on it to prevent her sucking ... can't exactly do that with the lip. Her bottom lip is becoming enlarged due to the sucking and I am afraid that it will eventually turn black as well.

Please advise me what i can do to stop her sucking her bottom lip.

Thank you

I really do not know, but I will first explain my concern to her and then constantly remind her when it happens. Bitter aloe may even be worth a try if you apply it to the lower part of the lip.
