Q.

strange discharge

Hello
I have noticed a whitish vaginal discharge on my 4yr old daughter. I think she may have had this for a while. She often complains that "her cookie is sore" and I find that after I have used fissan paste on her it seems to be better. When its "sore" it looks as if she has a nappy rash but not thrush. The fissan paste seems to work immediately. Is a discharge at this age normal or should I see my paed?

This could be normal, but it may also be due to a candida infection. Give her a probiotic such as Probiflora chewable tablets once daily for at least 10 days and use Nystatin cream twice daily to clear the rash.If the discharge persists and is still so profuse then ask your paediatrician to see her.
