Q.

Steaming

Hi Prof,
Is the old fashioned " steaming"  method that our moms used in the 90''s (boiling water with fry''s bolsim in the water or plain boiling water) still considered useful today or is it been replaced with nebulising? Or is Nebbing something different?

Steaming is very effective for treating croup in young children, but the danger of accidental burns has made this method rather unpopular. Nebulisers are now used for croup especially for giving adrenaline and cortisone-type inhalation treatments.Nebulisers are mainly used for treating chest infections particularly where children are wheezing such as with asthma.Nebulistaion also helps childrebn to cough up mucous that is in their chests when they have chest infections.
