My baby startles very easily and jerks alot in his sleep. Sometimes he cries in his sleep as if he is in distress. Should i be worried? He is 15 days old.

This is completely normal in newborn infants.

It means wrapping your baby in a cocoon such as the red indians do. Take a look at this website: www dot adviceforbaby dot com/swaddling.htm

Hi there, the startling is normal and is called the Moro reflex. Best is to swaddle your baby so that he feels as safe and cosy as he did in the womb. Then he won'y wake up with a fright from this Moro reflex. You can swaddle him up to 4-6 months of age.
