Starting solids - qty of milk / fluid per day

Dear Doc

Our little boy is just 6 months and over 8kg so we have started rice cereal every morning and evening and will be adding a veggie at lunch time next week. We will probably start a fruit mid afternoon in a couple of weeks if the veggie goes well.

He is allergic to Cows Milk Protein and was on NAN HA1. We have just changed to NAN HA2 and he seems to be enjoying it.

I need to know how much milk and fluids he should be drinking per day and whether I must add rooibos tea to his diet (he will not drink water)?

Also, by what age should they be eating the same food we eat (proper meals)? I have been told 1 years old and 2 years old.

Thank you!

At 8kg your baby needs 1120ml of fluids per day.You can give him rooibos if he would like to drink it. He will be eating a full mixed diet by 1 year.

I' ve read in previous posts that a baby should should drink 120ml fluids for every kilo he weighs (eg 120 X 8kg).

My son is now 1 year and he eats everything we eat. Of course, cut up in small pieces.

Good luck
