Q.

Son is very skinny and pale

I have four-year old twins (a boy and a girl) and although they generally are fairly healthy, I am worried about my son's colour and his weight.
Although he eats well (prefers carbs to protein and don't really like meat, but I ensure that he gets some form of protein in) he is very skinny. He is quite tall for his age (about a head taller than his sister) and weighs 14.8kg (apparantly average for his age), but he appears sickly due to his skinny frame. Both his father and I are big-boned (but not overweight) and his sister already weighs almost 16kgs. Furthermore, he is very very pale with blue bags under his eyes-- so much so that people actually ask me whether his is terminally ill! He is active, sleeps well, play outside a lot and is very engergetic. However, he complains a lot about stomach ache (around the bladder area) and pains in his upper legs (so much that he wakes up crying about it). SHould I be worried or is he just a growing boy.?

Paediatrician

I am worried that he may have a condition called coeliac disease which is due to gluten intolerance.Allergic children can also have this appearance. Please take him to your paediatrician for a full evaluation.

Maybe you should just take him to a Paed and have a full check up and thereafter if they find nothing wrong and he seems healthy and eats well, just tell your family that he has been checked by a good doctor and all is well.
Maybe try give him a vitamin supplement or an immune booster. I give Bright Sparks Immune Booster to my children, costs R59.95 at Clicks.

I did (full blood count) about a year ago and everything checked out... I am just frustrated because a lot of my friends and family nags me that something MUST be wrong due to his colour and skinny frame... He does look very fragile...
